Workshop

Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences, Comenius University in Galati, Romania

Workshop Chair: Dr. Lukáš Vartiak, Associate Professor in Comenius University in Bratislava

The workshop aimed to practice using the EFQM Model in a real organization. First, the EFQM Model was presented and all of its criteria were defined. Afterwards, we summarized that the organization must be focused on the needs of customers, and at the same time, it must be responsible. A simplified guide for each organization represents its targeting to achieve quality, not only in products but also in the organizations internal processes and external relations, which is what the EFQM Model serves. Participants received an evaluation sheet based on the principles of the EFQM Model, on which the individual criteria were scored, with a total of a maximum of 1000 points. Before the actual allocation of points in the individual criteria, the practical questions of the participants regarding the very use of the EFQM Model in practice were answered. We used the EFQM Model to assess three globally recognized companies: IKEA, Netflix and Google. As a result, we identified Google as the most valuable company according to the EFQM methodology with 900-975 points. Netflix obtained average values in the range of 700 to 800 points. IKEA received average values of up to 700 points. Workshop participants interacted in assessing individual criteria of the Model.

Research group on economics at University of Murcia, Spain

Workshop Chair: Dr. Javier Cifuentes-Faura, Researcher in University of Murcia

The workshop "Policies to enhance sustainable development through the green economy" brought together several students from the University of Murcia and served to learn and to identify the importance of accountability. The objective of this workshop is to comprehend trends in academic development, expand research themes, enhance academic research and discourse, and foster collaboration on sustainability and economic development research. We specifically concentrate on examining pollution and the energy crises, which are pressing issues in Europe, notably Central and Eastern European nations. We evaluate the influence of economic growth and electricity pricing on pollution for non-household consumers. We study how renewable energies reduce CO2 and GHG emissions in the energy industry. Also how foreign direct investment and electricity prices determine the reduction of GHG and CO2 emissions. Policies aimed at sustainable development and the promotion of renewable energies were also discussed.
