Personal Bio:

Dr An Nguyen is a Lecturer in Human Resource Management at King's Business School, and Deputy Programme Director of the online Global Human Resource Management MSc. She has extensive experience in leading large courses, supervising dissertations, and conducting both online and face-to-face tutorials in HRM at UK universities.

Before joining King's, An taught and conducted research at Coventry University and University of Glasgow. She holds a PhD in Education Policy from the Open University, an MA in Education from UCL, and a BSc in International Relations from the LSE. She has extensive industry experience in India, China, Vietnam, and the UK, having worked and provided consultancy services for corporations, NGOs, and ed-tech companies. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Vietnamese.

Background:

The digital revolution has profoundly impacted the way organizations operate, communicate, and manage their workforce. Rapid advancements in information and communication technologies, coupled with the rise of artificial intelligence (AI), have transformed Human Resource Management (HRM) practices across global organizations. These technologies enable firms to transcend geographical boundaries, adapt to remote working paradigms, and manage diverse global teams through digital communication tools and virtual platforms.

AI-powered applications are reshaping core HR functions, from recruitment and talent management to performance evaluation and employee engagement. However, the integration of these technologies presents challenges, including ethical considerations, cultural adaptation, and the need for strategic change management. This workshop provides a platform to explore how organizations can effectively navigate these challenges, leveraging digital and AI-driven solutions to enhance HRM practices, drive innovation, and build resilience in an increasingly complex and interconnected global business environment.

Goal/Rationale:

The rapid integration of digital technologies and AI into Human Resource Management (HRM) has created both unprecedented opportunities and complex challenges for organizations operating in a globalized world. While these advancements have revolutionized HR practices, enabling remote working, global virtual teams, and data-driven decision-making, they also present issues such as technological adoption, employee resistance, and ethical dilemmas in AI deployment.

This workshop aims to address these challenges by equipping participants with strategies to effectively leverage digital tools and AI technologies in HRM. By exploring the latest innovations, such as AI-driven recruitment platforms, performance analytics, and virtual collaboration tools, participants will gain insights into how these technologies can enhance efficiency, foster inclusivity, and improve organizational agility.

The workshop will also highlight the importance of adapting HR strategies to diverse cultural and organizational contexts, ensuring that technological solutions align with human-centered values. Participants will engage in discussions, case studies, and practical exercises to co-create actionable strategies for optimizing HRM practices in their organizations, addressing both the opportunities and risks presented by the digital era. This collaborative approach will empower participants to navigate the evolving landscape of HRM with confidence and innovation.

Call for Papers

This workshop explores the transformative impact of digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) on Human Resource Management (HRM) in global organizations. It is designed for HR professionals, organizational leaders, researchers, and practitioners interested in leveraging digital innovations to optimize HR functions.

Participants are encouraged to contribute insights, research, and experiences related to the following themes:

  • The adoption and management of remote work and global virtual teams.
  • The role of AI in enhancing HR functions such as recruitment, performance management, and employee engagement.
  • Strategies for managing the ethical and cultural implications of integrating digital technologies into HRM practices.
  • Case studies on successful implementations of digital and AI-driven HR strategies.
  • Frameworks for fostering organizational resilience and adaptability in the face of technological change.

The workshop provides a collaborative space to share knowledge, develop solutions, and gain actionable insights to navigate the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation in HRM.

    Prospective authors are kindly invited to submit full papers that include title, abstract, introduction, tables, figures, conclusion and references. It is unnecessary to submit an abstract in advance. The deadline for general submission is July 4, 2025.

    Each paper should be no less than 4 pages. One regular registration can cover a paper of 6 pages, and additional pages will be charged. Please format your paper well according to the conference template below before submission.

    Publication

    Workshop Proceedings:

    Accepted papers will be published in Advances in Economics, Management and Political Sciences (AEMPS) (Print ISSN: 2754-1169) and will be submitted to Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI), Crossref, CNKI, Portico, Google Scholar, and other databases for indexing. The situation may be affected by factors among databases like processing time, workflow, policy, etc.

    Accepted manuscripts will be submitted to the publisher on a rolling basis. Early-registered papers are expected to be published and printed earlier.

    The workshop provides an opportunity for poster exhibition. Authors who are interested in presenting a poster, please submit your materials (prefer in .pdf) to ws_london@icemgd.org before July 4th, 2025.

    Guidelines for Poster Presentation

    1. Poster presentations must be prepared using the template provided:
      *Poster layout template for poster presentation (download)

    2. Posters should generally be in A1 size (width: 594mm x height: 841mm) and include the followings:

      Title, author and co-author names, and the affiliation(s) information.

      Body parts, including "Abstract", "Introduction", "Methods", "Results", "Discussion" and "Conclusions".

    3. Presenters are suggested to set the font size properly and avoid placing anything at the margin part of the poster as it will be difficult to view.
    4. Posters should be well illustrated. All the pictures used should be high quality and with high resolution.
    5. All the posters will be displayed online on the official website. Each poster will have both a small thumbnail and a full-size version.
    6. Posters will be displayed during the online session. After the presentation is over, the full-size version of all posters will become invisible. But thumbnails still can be seen on the website.

    You must have a passport or travel document to enter the UK. It should be valid for the whole of your stay.

    You must be able to show that:

    • you'll leave the UK at the end of your visit
    • you're able to support yourself and your dependants during your trip (or have funding from someone else to support you)
    • you're able to pay for your return or onward journey (or have funding from someone else to pay for the journey)
    • you'll not live in the UK for extended periods through frequent or successive visits, or make the UK your main home

    Check if you need a visa to visit the UK

    Depending on your nationality, you'll either:

    • have to apply for a Standard Visitor visa before you travel to the UK
    • be able to visit the UK for up to 6 months without needing a visa

    You can check if you need a visa before you apply.
    If you do not need a visa, you must still meet the Standard Visitor eligibility requirements to visit the UK. You may be asked questions at the UK border about your eligibility and the activities you plan to do.
